ECOSPHERE Social – Ecology Center
"Healthy nation plus healthy environment" - is the main target
of the Social-Ecological Center "EcoSphere".
We want to bring up a new generation that will aspire to preserve their
health, health of their families and "health" of environment.
Most probably, the discussions on the way of preserving the health of
the rising generation of Azerbaijan and environmental well-being served
as the decision to join and establish the Social-Ecological Center "EcoSphere"
on April 30, 1999.
The main objective:to promote preservation, protection, rehabilitation
of the environment and the young generation's health; propaganda of the
principles of humanism, charity, compassion in various fields of life.

Date of registration: December 22, 1999 (Registered by the Ministry
of Justice, ¹ 1226)
 Mission:
our center "Ecosphere" is a nongovernmental humanitarian organization,
uniting scientists, teachers, students, environmental professionals, biologists
and physicians who have experience in the field of the education, health
care and environmental protection. Our global mission is to promote the
creation of special conditions in Azerbaijan for the transition to the
interconnected social-economic and environmental development of society.
Preliminary stage mission: a healthy nation in harmony with nature.
Main fields of activity: environmental education and training,
propaganda of the kind treatment of animals, social and domestic assistance,
healthy lifestyle propaganda for the young generation, study of the development
of interaction between the human being, human society and the surroundings
(nature, culture, traditions), training of the young generation to love
and respect their cultural and historical traditions, elaboration and
implementation of the new methods of environmental training for kids,
teenagers and students.
The basic directions of activity of our organization:
- Ecological education;
- Ecologization of the various kinds and branches of culture and art;
- Ecological services and assistance in nature protection activity;
- Social assistance;
- Propagation of a healthy image of life for young generation;
- Propagation of the human attitude to an animal;
- Rendering assistance to a wild and home animal;
- Protection of the rights of animals.

- Sultan-zadeh Firuza – PhD of biological science, teacher on the
Chair of Biology Faculty at the Baku State University.
- Aliyeva Zuleikha – ophthalmologist, City’s first clinic
hospital.
- Fataliyeva Sevil – doctor of the biological sciences, main scientific
associate of the Botanic Institute.
- Movsumova Sabina – engineer-geophysicist (State Oil Company
of the Azerbaijan Republic).
- Khankishiyeva Mina – Head of the geological foundation on the
off shore oil and gas exploitation (State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan
Republic).
- Sultan-zadeh Rabiya – schoolteacher, philologist.
- Guseinova Afag – translator
- Gumbatova Sevindj – associate of Chair of Biology Faculty at
the Baku State University.
- Safarova Afa – physician, clinic of venereal and skin diseases.
- Guseinova Matanat – physician.
- Mustafayeva Nailya – master of ecology.
- Amirbecov Niyazi - master of ecology, laboratory assistant
- Babazadeh Emin - engineer-oil industry worker (BP)
Besides, we have additional staff of professional scientists - ecologists,
physicians, leading teachers of the high education institutions in the
field of ecology and biology. We apply to these persons in case of necessity.
Volunteers - 15 persons.
All of the members of our organization (both the permanent staff of 13
persons, and the additional staff of 15 persons) are volunteers, as they
do not get regular payment. During the implementation of the particular
projects we enlist additional number of volunteers (students, schoolchildren
and representatives some other organizations). We pay significant attention
to the enlisting of the new volunteers and explanatory work on the NGO
role in the society.
We work with the Russian speaking and Azeri speaking population, all of
the residents of Azerbaijan irrespectively of the race, ethnic identity,
and religion. Many of our projects are the joint projects of our organization
and organizations from the other regions and countries. Youth of various
nations participated in these projects.

1. Work with the children from the refugees' families. We have also
allocated some appropriations to purchase school chancery and visited
IDP camps in Barda, Kalantarly, Lemberan and settlements in Baky. (Self-finance
and contributions from the Center "Ecosphere")
2. 3 month long course of lectures on the following subjects "Common
ecology foundations", "Problems related to the oil pollution
in the Absheron peninsula"
3. A daylong training trip to the Caspian seaside and the Adjigabul
Lake with the participation of students and the oil companies employees
- to study the man-made effects on the environment.
4. Assistance to the children suffering from the talassemia (an awful
blood disease). Action Title: "Help at least one". Donor assistance
of the organization's staff and the drawing the extra donors in, active
propaganda activity, posters issue. (Donors are the active members of
the Center and the extra donors who were drawn in as the result of the
organization's work. Self-finance and financial contributions of the
organization's staff)
5. "Family Day": a joint action with the "McDonalds"
and "Azeravto" within the program of the Center "Ecosphere"
titled "Good neighbors, kind friends". 25 kids along with
their parents planted seedlings. Then for the kids a special events
was arranged, including quiz games and gifts. A competition for the
best picture on the asphalt was carried out. The subject of competition
was "My family and the green world". (Finance sources: "McDonalds",

The main programs and projects of
"EcoSphere" Center:
- Ecological monitoring research works at the territory of Absheron
Peninsula and Azerbaijan
 
- Carrying out of ecological courses of lectures and demonstrational
field research works for pupils and students
- Development and publishing of the training aids on ecology and books
for children on teaching principles of ecology, propaganda of the human
attitude towards animals and propaganda of healthy way of life
- Work with children-orphans, children from the families of refugees
and sick children
 
 
- Carrying out of the following programs: "Historical Roots"
and "Treasures of my culture" We offer the educational cultural-historical
game excursions for children, during which we observe the way of development
of interaction of a man, mankind and environment (nature, culture, traditions)
from prehistoric time through the middle ages up to the modern time
while applying the method of animation of the real historical places
of Azerbaijan.

1. Project "Historical Roots" was adopted by the
ISAR/Azerbaijan
2. Project "Environmental education and training of the school
children while exposing the potential Specially Protected Natural Territories
in the regions of the Western Caspian". The joint grant of ISAR-Central
Asia/USAID: the Caspian Program. The project had been carried out in
cooperation with the NGO "Berkut" (Dagestan, Russia)
3. Project "It is better to see once than to hear a hundred times…"
(Project of creation of the ecological puppet theatre for children and
