Environment Association of Georgia "Earth-
in the XXI century"
Environment Association of Georgia "Earth- in the XXI century"
- is independent non-political, nonprofit and non-governmental environmental
organization.
 Goals
and aims of the Association are searching ways for settlement ecological
problems with governmental, planting of greenery, eliminate unsanitary
points, cleaning and organizing of public services of amenities in places
of social gathering (parks, squares and tourism centers), taking care
of cultural heredity, assisting in democracy processes in Georgia, supporting
of economic reforms, holding scientific forums, Congresses, conferences.
Environment Association of Georgia "Earth-in the XXI century"
was founded as an enterprising group, in May 1999, and registered in Sept.1999.
Structure
Presidium, of five members of Association, is managing organization's
strategy. President of the Association, Giorgi Bezarashvili, presides
over presidium meetings, and is responsible to acquit accepted solutions.
Main tendencies of Association
- · Improving public ecology development and assisting democracy development
processes; tending to sustainable economic development in Georgia;
- · Cooperating with the fields of environmental protection;
- · Convergence of ecology and health care (human ecology);
- · Develop eco-policy in the Caucasus;
- · Providing co-operation with governmental and NGO organizations;
Provided projects
- · In 1997-1998, our organization with Tbilisi Municipality and other
services had been accomplished cleaning and greening actions of territory
along Ku Lake, Lici Lake, Tbilisi Sea and Zoo.
- · In Sept. 1999, we accomplished a settlement gardening action in
the territory of Tsodoreti village near Tbilisi.
- · In 5 June 2000, Department of Youth Affairs and Local Government
Board of Vake region held a "Day of Earth" providing a drawing
competition -"Children- Ecology- Art" in the schools.
Partnership
Our Association attends and fosters greater cooperative communications
to governmental and NGOs, and takes an active participation in Parliament
of Georgia, in the environmental decision-making processes.
In 1999, NGOs was founded Congress of NGOs where more than two hundreds
of organizations were united in different committees. The leader of one
the committee of Ecological Affair's is the president of our Association
Mr. George Bezarashvili
In Dec. 1999, rather interesting partner relationship was established
with the Azerbaijan Organization (socio-economic center) "EcoSfera",
and created a joint project to hold eco-development seminaries in Georgia
and Azerbaijan too.
ISAR/Azerbaijan organization took participation in the competition elaborated
by "Horizonti", but unfortunately, was not conceded.
In Autumn 2000, Georgian - Azerbaijan competition was again announced
where won Georgian project "Web", organized by our Association.
A priority issue, at the present stage of global region ecology problems,
is to join efforts with region states. Our program "Web" would
assist to solve these problems. Through the Internet, our program presents
information to local and general public, our home page helps in highlighting
Caucasian environmental problems and in exchanging expert's experiences.
